Ascend Performance Materials introduces three new specialty amines

Ascend Performance Materials announced today an expansion of its line of specialty amines. The company has added three new grades for use in energy, coatings and asphalt applications. The expansion is driven by customer needs and is the first in a series of new product introductions planned for 2017.

Ascend’s new grades of specialty amines include the following:

  • FlexaTramTM- BHM-170, a product based on (bis)hexamethylenetetramine, features ultra-low metal content and an improved color profile for enhanced performance in several oil and gas applications, including use as a corrosion inhibitor and an absorbent.
  • FlexaTramTM- DAM-200, a product based on diaminocyclohexane, features improved chemical and mechanical resistance when used in epoxy coatings and composites applications.
  • HexatranTM- 300 is a multifunctional product based on triaminononane that provides a cost-effective solution for use in coatings, oil and gas and asphalt applications.

Other products under development for launch later in the year include BHMT material and epoxy curing agents with higher purity levels.

Ascend’s specialty chemicals division manufactures FlexaTrac™ acids and esters, FlexaTram™ amines and FlexaTril™ nitriles. The company also offers several signature products, including Hexatran™, Hextranol™, Prionil™ and Trinohex™.
