Vikram Gopal joins Ascend as vice president, technology of nylon business

Vikram Gopal has joined Ascend Performance Materials as vice president, technology of the organization's nylon business, Phil McDivitt, president of Ascend's nylon business, announced. Gopal will lead the global technology team from Ascend's headquarters in Houston and serve on the Ascend nylon leadership team, reporting to McDivitt.

Gopal formerly worked at Invista, a division of Koch Industries, where he progressed through a series of technology and product marketing roles during his five-year tenure, most recently serving as vice president of technology at Invista Engineering Polymer Solutions. Previously he spent 11 years with General Electric Plastics (later sold to SABIC) in various manufacturing, sales, technology and product management roles. Gopal was credentialed as a six sigma black belt during his tenure at GE.

"Vikram brings proven leadership and business skills to Ascend and our nylon business," McDivitt said. "He has a broad background in the advance materials industry and a deep understanding of the nylon 6,6 market and our key customers."

Gopal holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Alabama and an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. He received his bachelor's degree in petrochemical engineering from the University of Pune in India.
