Ascend recognized for clean H2O

Ascend’s Greenwood plant has received its third consecutive gold award for stellar performance in wastewater treatment compliance, cementing its reputation as a good corporate steward of the environment.

The Greenwood Metropolitan District recognized the plant for meeting all pollutant limitations, reporting and permit requirements in 2014. The requirements are necessary to produce clean water and protect water quality.

The GMD is a public works agency responsible for issuing permits that allow local businesses, including Ascend’s Greenwood plant, to release process wastewater for treatment.

Lori Napper, an environmental engineer II at Greenwood, accepted the  award during GMD’s annual luncheon in March.

The recognition is the result of great Ascend team work. Napper, environmental technician Glenn Payne and chemical lab technician Travis Oliver ensure all wastewater sample collection and analysis and reporting are completed according to permit requirements. Team members at the plant are responsible for timely reporting of discharge incidents and preventing spills in the process sewer.
