Ascend Names Phil McDivitt Nylon Business President

Phil McDivitt has joined the company as president of its nylon business. Phil will lead Ascend’s global nylon business--which includes three manufacturing sites and approximately 1,800 team members--from the company’s headquarters in Houston and will serve on the Ascend leadership team, reporting to CEO Fred Poses.

McDivitt comes to Ascend from Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty materials company, where he  progressed through a series of operations and commercial roles since joining the organization in 1987. Since 2012, he served as vice president and general manager of the engineered materials business, which is an industry leader in acetal polymers, liquid crystal polymers, long fiber reinforced thermoplastics and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.

“Phil brings proven leadership and business skills to Ascend and our nylon business,” said Poses. “He has an extensive background in the chemical and materials industry, including supply chain, manufacturing operations, technology and engineering, as well as a deep understanding of our marketplace and key customers. We look forward to Phil’s leadership in growing Ascend’s nylon business.”

“I am excited to become a part of the Ascend Team, and look forward to working with the talented people here to focus on the fundamentals, delight our customers and grow the business,” said McDivitt. “Our customers place a value on everything we do, and the better we execute our initiatives; whether they are people, products, or processes, the more they will value Ascend, and the greater success we will have.”

McDivitt holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. He and his wife will be relocating from Dallas to the Houston area in the coming months.
