Ascend names Kevin Bartol vice president, chief financial officer

Kevin Bartol has joined Ascend Performance Materials as vice president and chief financial officer, effective August 17th, CEO Fred Poses announced. Bartol will lead the company's finance and IT teams and will be a member of the Ascend leadership team, reporting to Poses.

Bartol brings a combination of strategic thinking and results-oriented leadership, Poses said. "Kevin has broad experience and the ability to drive operational performance and lead high-performance teams," he said.

Bartol comes to Ascend from the Rowan Companies, an offshore contract provider of drilling services and rigs, where he was executive vice president and chief financial officer. Prior to his role with Rowan, Bartol held leadership roles with Jindal Texas Works, Network International, Inc. and Simmons and Co. International, and he was a founder of Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Houston's first microbrewery. Bartol began his career with Exxon as a project engineer and later worked with McKinsey & Co. during graduate school.

Bartol earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rice University and MBA from Harvard Business School.
