Ascend Named One of Houston’s Healthiest Employers

Ascend Performance Materials has been named one of Houston's Healthiest Employers by the Houston Business Journal.

“We are proud to be recognized as a healthy place to work,” said Malcolm O'Neal, vice president of Human Resources. “Our company and team members are genuinely committed to setting and achieving wellness goals and creating an overall culture of health and growth. A culture of health and growth is critical to the overall success of our business, and that can only be achieved through the engagement of our team members and their families.”

Ascend offers an integrated approach of physical, financial and emotional wellness programs and benefits for employees and dependents, including Virgin HealthMiles, site based Weight Watchers teams, Ascend Coordinated Health Care managed by Quantum, a financial wellness program to create a debt-free living pathway for all employees, gym memberships and discounts, onsite medical clinics, biometrics screenings and a comprehensive benefits package. O'Neal credits the success and breadth of Ascend's wellness program to the efforts and passion of the local wellness champions and teams that lead the programs in each of the company's locations.

O'Neal goes on to share that, “Wellness is not just about prevention here at Ascend. Most importantly, it's an ongoing process of improvement and is individualized to each team member and their family. Our approach has been introduced and reinforced through a series of personal success stories, challenges and testimonies under the banner of Live Long, Live Healthy. Whether it is quitting smoking to enjoy healthier years with the grandchildren, being able to manage cancer care, crossing the finish line of your first 5K, paying off credit cards or sending a child to college, we are committed to creating the shared accountability and experiences to make this happen for every Ascend family.”
