Finlay Morrison joins Ascend Performance Materials as vice president, specialty chemicals

Finlay Morrison has joined Ascend Performance Materials as vice president, specialty chemicals, announced Phil McDivitt, president of Ascend's nylon business. Morrison will lead the company's global specialty chemicals team and serve as a member of the Ascend nylon leadership team. He will be based in Houston, reporting to McDivitt.

Morrison comes to Ascend with experience leading product portfolios across commodity, intermediate and specialty chemicals, with a history of success in top-line revenue growth through both commercial and operational disciplines.

"Finlay brings market understanding, customer experience, and commercial and technical skills to this role," McDivitt says. "He is an engaging leader with strong communication skills and influence capabilities, and he has grown teams not only in developing strong relationships but also in successfully integrating technology, operations and business strategy."

Morrison comes to Ascend from Clariant, where he was vice president of the mining chemical solutions business based in Houston. Prior to his role with Clariant, he served as CEO of Accsys Technology, a design and manufacturing company specializing in wood acetylation technologies. Morrison began his career in the United Kingdom with Hoechst AG in commercial and strategy roles before joining Celanese, where he advanced though several general management, procurement and commercial and business development roles. He earned his degree in chemistry from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.
