Ascend’s Carole Wendt gives presentation on derivative market growth

Carol WendtCarole Wendt, Ascend’s vice president of global procurement and CPO, shared her insights on nylon 6,6 derivative market growth and how to identify niche market opportunities to capitalize on supply demand at the 2nd Annual Propane to Propylene Markets Summit in Houston on April 1-2.

Wendt was one of 17 senior industry leaders invited to speak at the conference, which brings together industry leaders to evaluate the future of the propylene value chain.  The year’s event focused on the growth of downstream propylene derivative markets and strategies to maximize profitability from these markets.

Global polypropylene consumption is set to reach 62.4 million tons by 2020, while the global propylene market is estimated to reach $172 billion by 2020.

Conference speakers helped to provide attendees with in depth analysis of specific derivative markets across different industries and regions. They also discussed the latest breakthroughs in material applications.

Wendt specifically talked about the importance of studying the global propylene market and how cost effective it is to measure whether it is sufficient to support growing demand.  She also detailed how the nylon 6,6 molecule is replacing alternative materials in different commodity markets across the globe and forecasting market growth to determine future propylene requirements.
