Ascend Receives Supplier Excellence Award

Eastman Chemical Company presented Ascend Performance Materials with their 2013 Excellence Award at a July 8 ceremony in our Pensacola, Fla., facility.

“As a recognized supplier of adipic acid to Eastman Chemical Company during 2013, Ascend has earned the status assigned by Eastman to our most valued suppliers,” said Allen Rogers, Eastman global procurement manager. “This designation signifies consistent performance in providing Eastman with high quality materials and services and working on Eastman’s behalf to improve our efficiency and competitiveness in today’s challenging market.”

Rogers went on to call out Ascend’s engagement of Eastman in the Ascend 2 Excellence process, a continuous improvement program that improved on-time delivery to 99.5 percent and enabled more efficient use of warehouse space for Eastman in 2013.

“We were selected for the award because we collaborated with Eastman to understand the situation, the opportunities for us to improve our service and the impact to their business. Then, we delivered those improvements,” said Scott Cochran, Ascend global segment leader. “Through Ascend 2 Excellence projects, we delivered value for a strategic customer. We are proud to have earned Eastman’s confidence in us as a reliable and preferred supplier of adipic acid.”

The award is part of the Eastman Supplier Excellence Program. Eastman gives this award to less than two percent of their total supplier base annually.
