An ammonia product supply line has experienced a leak in an undeveloped, publicly inaccessible area located northeast of the intersection of CR 232 and CR 226 in Brazoria County. The flow of ammonia has been turned off, and as the owner of the supply line, Ascend and its contractors are actively working to repair the line. Several nearby structures were evacuated as a precaution.
Air quality in the area is being independently monitored and is at safe levels. Depending on wind direction and other factors, the smell of residual ammonia may be detectable in the general area.
Brazoria County officials are informed and being updated. Appropriate updates will be provided. For additional information please contact Alison Jahn at 713-210-9809.
