Ascend’s Chocolate Bayou site named 2018 Large Business of the Year by Alvin-Manvel Chamber of Commerce

Ascend Performance Materials announced today that its Chocolate Bayou site was recognized as the 2018 Large Business of the Year by the Alvin-Manvel Area Chamber of Commerce.

Ascend’s Chocolate Bayou site has been a proud member of the Alvin and Manvel-area communities for more than five decades and its employees have made many positive contributions to the area.

"Ascend is certainly deserving of recognition by the Chamber of Commerce," said Senator Larry Taylor. "It's a growing company that produces innovative products with a focus on its customers. Ascend's economic impact is impressive, and its philanthropic efforts in our area are commendable."

In 2017, Ascend Cares volunteers demoed 55 homes and served more than 1,000 meals to its employees impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Ascend’s most recent volunteer project was the donation of 10 playhouses for children with disabilities through a partnership with BACH, a nonprofit agency in Angleton, Texas. More than 130 employees from Chocolate Bayou built and decorated the playhouses.

“We are proud to be the 2018 Large Business of the Year,” said Brian Connelly, senior site director for Ascend’s Chocolate Bayou site. “Ascend has called Alvin home for many years and we are extremely pleased and honored to be viewed as a valued business and a friend to our neighbors.”
