Compounding Feedstock

Feedstock grades are formulated individually to obtain the optimal balance between the desired mixing level and integration of additives to PA66 backbone without sacrificing the flow characteristics and mechanical properties needed for the final application.

Lower-viscosity resins (21LS and 21ZLV) enable mixing shearsensitive materials and high-percent filler concentration where distributive mixing is essential to the final product performance.

The compounded product will maintain its high flow and performance needed for the application.

Medium- and high-viscosity grades (21MST, 21Z-NT01A2, 21Z, 50BW, 21FS-R and 52BW-MS) provide dispersive mixing without causing degradation of PA66. The new 21Z-NT01A2 grade is unique in its class with its high concentration of amine end groups, which is proven to be an advantage for moisture sensitive formulations. Also, the new 21MST grade provides excellent melt viscosity stability against moisture throughout the extrusion process.

Ascend's portfolio of PA66/6 compounding feedstock resins

Ascend produces medium-viscosity PA66/6 random copolymers (88X, 85XFS and 86XFS) for compounds containing heat-sensitive additives and end-use applications that require good surface finish. These copolymer resins have melt temperatures varying from 235° to 255° C based on the comonomer concentration.

These copolymers are specifically designed to be used with FR packages and high mineral loadings.

Vydyne® 21FSR is a higher-viscosity, general-purpose PA66 resin. It is available in natural and designed for extrusion-compounding applications. This resin offers a well balanced combination of engineering properties characterized by high strength, rigidity, good toughness, high melt point, good surface lubricity and abrasion resistance.

Vydyne® 21LS is a low-viscosity, general-purpose PA66 resin used for extrusion-compounding. Vydyne 21LS enables mixing shear sensitive materials and high-percent filler concentration where distributive mixing is essential to the final product performance. The compounded product will maintain its high flow and performance needed for the application. Resistance of Vydyne 21LS to heat, oil and wear is typical of PA66 neat resins.

Vydyne® 21MST is a neat PA66 resin that is designed for extrusion-compounding applications. This general-purpose resin provides excellent viscosity stability against moisture throughout the extrusion process. Vydyne 21MST maintains its medium viscosity through the compounding step. Resistance of Vydyne 21MST to heat, oil and wear is typical of PA66 neat resins.

Vydyne® 21Z is a general-purpose PA66 resin. It is available in natural and designed for extrusion-compounding applications. This resin offers a well balanced combination of engineering properties characterized by high strength, rigidity, good toughness, high melt point, good surface lubricity and abrasion resistance.

Vydyne® 21ZLV is a lower-viscosity, general-purpose PA66 resin. It is available in natural and designed for extrusion-compounding applications. Vydyne 21ZLV is the feedstock of choice for highly filled TM products and reactive-compounding applications.

Vydyne® 21Z-NT01A2 is a neat PA66 resin that is designed for extrusion-compounding applications.

Vydyne® 50BW and Vydyne® 50BWFS are general-purpose PA66 resins. Offered in natural and designed for extrusion-compounding applications, this product is available at two moisture levels: 0.2% (max) as 50BW and 0.5% (max) as 50BWFS.

Vydyne® 85XFS maintains the chemical resistance typical of PA66/6 to many chemicals, machine and motor oils, solvents and gasoline.

Vydyne® 86XFS is a medium-viscosity PA66/6 random copolymer used for extrusion-compounding. This copolymer is specifically designed to be used with FR packages and high mineral loadings due to its lower melting point. It provides a good surface finish to the final product.
