Statement from Ascend Performance Materials regarding Hurricane Laura

Regarding Ascend’s plans to mitigate potential supply challenges that may result from Hurricane Laura, the company’s Senior Vice President of Polyamides, Isaac Khalil, issued the following statement.

“Ascend’s Chocolate Bayou site located in Alvin, TX, has put a number of measures in place to anticipate and prepare for Hurricane Laura. Our hurricane preparation plan was put into action nearly one week ago to ensure the protection and safety of our people, our supply chain and our site assets. We also have mitigation plans in place to manage the potential for any shipping disruptions related to the storm. While we do not anticipate any supply disruptions, we cannot predict the storm’s path or impact.

The safety and security of our people and the Alvin community continues to be our top priority. We will monitor and adhere to the advice of area and state emergency officials and we will continue to communicate with the U.S. Coast Guard to ensure the continued, safe operations of our ports and waterways.”
